Style Files - Beth

Doesn't she look great?!

So, the other week I was finally reunited with one of my favourite people, the gorgeous girl above, Beth (aka @ragdollbeth if you fancy a stalk of her insta). She's one of my oldest friends, one of the sweetest people I know and one third of the wonderful acoustic rap band, Trick of the Light. For as long as I can remember, she’s always had her own incredible and individual sense of style so I was more than made up when she agreed to letting me ask her about it!

How would you describe your personal style?
This is so difficult because my style is very much so ‘wear whatever and pray it looks okay’. I suppose a weird clash of quirky casual, with a hint of pop punk.

What or who would you say has influenced your style?
It would probably be a mix of the music I listen to and the fan following, and also my interaction with social media. Like, from going to gigs from such a young age and seeing older teenagers wearing doc martens and flannel shirts, I just thought they looked so cool. So of course, I begged my parents for a pair of black docs and wore them with pride at the tender age of eleven.

If you could delve into anybody else’s wardrobe and steal their style, whose would it be?
It would probably have to be Nina Nesbitt – I adore her quirky yet chic personal style and how she wears a combination of both monochrome and pastel shades. Whenever I’m scrolling through her Instagram I get major style envy!

Out of everything you own, what’s your favourite piece?
I recently brought a pair of trousers from River Island and they are gorgeous! They’re floral red and white with small black details, and I am honestly in love with them. So honestly, they’re probably my favourite piece at the moment!

Now in terms of a night out, what is your go to, foolproof outfit?
I tend to keep it pretty casual on a night out! When in doubt, head to the Joni jeans - I swear by Topshop denim. Then probably black boots, paired with a cropped top.

What are your favourite places to shop?
Topshop would take my first spot. As previously mention, Topshop denim holds a special place in my heart. COW would probably be another favourite; I love finding one off pieces in there like embroidered dresses or pieces of unique jewelry. However, I do love charity shops - I tend to find a lot of my plaid shirts in there for bargain prices.

What is one fashion item you just couldn’t live without?
Turtlenecks! If you scroll through my Instagram I’m pretty sure all of my selfies are taken wearing turtlenecks – I adore them so much. They look good with anything, and they’re perfect if you’re always cold like me!

Since you're quite a musical person I'm intrigued to know, what was the last song you listened to?
Cool by Troye Sivan, I love his music so much and urge everyone to go check out his album!

Just because I'm nosy, what are you watching at the moment?
I never really watch TV shows as they’re shown, I mainly spend my time browsing Netflix. I’ve recently just moved onto the last series of skins, which I’ve seen about ten times but still, it never gets old.

And lastly, what item are you currently lusting over?
I saw a pair of vans on Instagram whilst scrolling through and ever since then I can’t stop thinking about them. They’re a gorgeous shade of mustard yellow with white detailing on the side. Hopefully they will be added to my shoe collection soon!

As always, I’ve heard Beth mention something and now I want it; I’ve just spent the last twenty minutes looking though the vans hashtag on Instagram trying to convince myself I don’t need a new pair! But thank you Beth for letting me pry into your style and share it on here, and thank you to you for reading! If you liked this post please let me know so I can find another friend who’ll let me pester them to create a similar post!
